Scaling a payments team with a dedicated London-hours squad.

A London fintech needed to grow engineering capacity quickly to keep a demanding product roadmap on track, without the multi-month lead times of hiring senior engineers locally. Acveti stood up a dedicated squad, an on-site lead working alongside the client with a remote team in the same hours, that scaled from 3 to 10 engineers over the engagement and cut the client’s hiring time by around 60%.

The challenge

The challenge.

The in-house team was strong but capacity-constrained, and every senior hire in the London market was quoting months the roadmap could not absorb, while product commitments kept moving. The company did not want a detached offshore arrangement either; it wanted engineers who worked in its hours, in its process, and could be trusted with a meaningful part of the product. Adding that kind of capacity through permanent hiring alone was neither fast nor certain.

The solution

How Acveti solved it.

01

A dedicated, in-hours squad

An on-site lead anchored architecture and alignment while senior engineers worked remotely in the client’s hours, operating as one integrated team rather than a separate supplier.

02

Scaled with demand

Capacity grew from 3 to 10 engineers as the roadmap expanded, so the team tracked real need instead of a fixed contract, and without a permanent-headcount commitment.

03

Owned delivery end to end

The squad took features from design through release inside the client’s process, review gates and standards, rather than handing work back and forth.

Implementation

From brief to launch.

  1. Brief

    Squad scoped

Roles, delivery ownership and the on-site/remote split agreed with the in-house team.

  2. Ramp

    On-site lead + core

An on-site lead and initial engineers embedded in the client’s hours and rituals.

  3. Scale

    3 → 10 engineers

Capacity added incrementally as throughput needs grew across the roadmap.

  4. Ongoing

    Still running

A long-running engagement holding delivery pace as the product evolves.

The outcome

What changed.

The fintech roughly halved the time it took to add senior engineering capacity and scaled its squad from three to ten as the roadmap grew, capacity that arrived in weeks rather than the months local hiring was quoting. Because the team worked in-hours as one group with an on-site lead, it took real ownership of the roadmap rather than sitting at arm’s length, and the engagement is still running.
